Yes, the stars are everywhere in the Northeast. Originally they were made by the Amish from reclaimed metal barn roofing. Now you can buy them in any gift store with a country flair. Originally the different colors had different meanings, but now it's just whatever the home-owner likes. It is still, however, seen as a sign of "friendliness".
